This is a message of unity in the community, this might not get votes in Thanet, but it is a message telling people here that this is what we believe in. Farage has really divided the community in a really terrible way, Ive never seen so much hatred. But the mosque is the headquarters of the UK Islamic Trust, a registered charity, and the Charity Commission says the mosque has been urgently contacted to remove the slogan. Charity Commission guidance on campaigning and political activity makes clear that a charity must not give its support to any political party or candidate and that all charities must ensure that their independence is maintained and perceptions of independence are not adversely affected, a spokesman said. The commission contacted the charity as a matter of urgency and we have been assured that immediate steps are being taken to remove the advert. We have reminded the trustees of their duties and are in continued correspondence in order to assess whether any further action is necessary. Askew called it a bit of an oversight and said his name was being removed from the slogan. The mosque werent too worried, but I said lets take the part down about voting for me. This dilapidated mansion is the last symbol of Prince Andrew's failed marriage to Sarah Ferguson and has been left to decay seven years after the prince sold it for £15million.

To make matters worse the grand country house gifted by the Queen to her second son as a wedding gift is now under the Heathrow flight path where planes pass over it every few minutes.

12-bedroom Sunninghill Park in Berkshire, which is only around 30 years oFld, is a shadow of its former splendour and now has broken windows and boarded-up entrances.

Dubbed SouthYork because it resembles Southfork, the ranch-house in TV's Dallas, the Duke of York sold it to Kazakh businessman Timur Kulibayev in 2007.

He paid more than £3million above the £12million asking price but since then it has become close to derelict and could be demolished after the local council gave permission nine months ago. 

Designed by Sir James Dunbar-Nasmith, who also created a development on the Balmoral estate, 'SouthYork' was given to Andrew after his marriage in 1986.

The Duchess of York lived on there with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie following the divorce in 1996, but moved out in 2006 and joined Andrew at his home Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

It was sold a year later but has become an expensive ruin and worse it is now being bombarded by noisy Jumbo jets coming in to land at Heathrow.

The new flight-path is part of a trial started by the National Air Traffic Services in August which will last five months. The experiment is also to be repeated next year.

An online petition set up by villagers in Ascot to stop the trial had today reached 5,500 signatures.

Neighbours told how the latest blight on the once grand mansion saw planes cruising over every two minutes, as low as 5,000 feet, with noise levels of 78 decibels being recorded.

'It's terrible - huge jumbo jets fly right over our rooftops and it's so, so noisy,' said one neighbour, who declined to be named.   

In December last near the current owner was granted planning permission tor replace the former royal home with a larger six bedroom house, with a further eight bedrooms for staff.

The new design, that was created by architects Hok, will include a family living room, drawing room, formal dining room, study and sitting rooms for children and the master suite.

A 25 metre indoor swimming pool to the south of the house to replace the current outdoor pool.

The planning permission granted by Bracknell Forest Borough Council expires in December 2016 if work has not begun on the new property.

Another resident, who described the noise from the planes as 'hellish' said of the plans for the Duke and Duchess's former home: 'We thought it might be happening this summer but obviously not. The Kennel Club Shun 8,000 Dog Lovers Refusing to Accept Petition for Better Cavalier Health

Frustrated by The Kennel Club's refusal to receive an 8,000 strong petition at Crufts this week, dog lovers have started a "virtual march". Owners who are caring for sick pets hope this will make the Club take on board their concerns about a health crisis in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

The 'Cavaliers Are Special Virtual Health March to the Kennel Club' is taking place on Facebook. Many of the virtual marchers have posted photographs of Cavaliers who have died at a young age from painful inherited disease.

Over 8,000 Cavalier lovers, including a host of celebrities, have signed a petition asking the Kennel Club to only register puppies whose parents have been tested for the breed's two most serious hereditary conditions.





Damon Scott spoke to K9 Magazine about why he and Craig Revel-Horwood, pictured above with their dog Sophie, are supporting the campaign back in December.

Speaking about the campaign, Ryan O'Meara, a former professional dog trainer and editor of K9 Magazine said, "When we breed dogs to a set of physical standards and ignore the health consequences, it's really unforgivable.The public must be educated to see dogs not for their aesthetic appeal but to think about their health."

The BBC ditched its coverage of Crufts after a 2008 TV documentary raised serious concerns about Cavalier health and breeding practices. Despite labelling itself "the UK's largest organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the health and welfare of all dogs", the organisation has refused to accept the petition, claiming it is not "appropriate" for its "positive celebration of dogs".

"As someone who has lost one Cavalier from heart disease and is now caring for a two-year-old Cavalier with an extremely serious neurological condition, this feels like another kick in the teeth for pet owners," says mother-of-three Charlotte Mackaness, who started the online march. "As far as Cavaliers go, Crufts is a celebration of beauty at the expense of health."

According to Margaret Carter, who started the petition: "It is possible to produce healthier puppies by health testing and removing young, affected Cavaliers from the breeding programme but the KC's own registration figures reveal 50 per cent of the Cavalier breeders exhibiting at Crufts are not following the Cavalier heart protocol."

"This is discrimination against pet owners who have signed the petition and posted thousands of heart-breaking comments," says Carter. "Why is the Kennel Club so reluctant to accept the petition? I suspect because there is a conflict of interest between its claim to represent all dogs and the fact that acknowledging health problems will antagonise the breeders who provide its main source of income.

"Most Cavaliers are in pet homes and it is pet owners that are left to pick up the pieces. They care for the sick dogs and they are the people fighting for the survival of this loving breed - doing the job that the Kennel Club and breed clubs should to be doing," she says.

The campaign has also received support from the RSPCA alongside a host of celebrities including Pixie Lott, Craig Revel-Horwood and Damon Scott, Deborah Meadon, Linda Robson, Made in Chelsea's Binky Felstead, Tony Parsons, Fern Britton and TV vet Mark Evans.

One particular opportunity is the buy-to-let market, you either get a mortgage on a property and then rent the property out, thus paying the mortgage. But if they put down a £25,000 deposit, financing the property instead with a 75pc loan-to-value mortgage, the buyer will have turned their equity of £25,000 into £125,000 - a gain of five times their investment. This capital gain can be used to re-mortgage the property, releasing equity to finance another house purchase.

This is the unique feature of buy-to-let as an investment, said Mr Thomas. "The investor can borrow against it and, when property prices have risen, remortgage to provide cash to buy more property."

Serial re-mortgaging was the highly lucrative tactic of Judith and Fergus Wilson, the Kent landlords who bought almost 1,000 properties.

The teachers turned property tycoons amassed a £200 million empire over the previous 18 years, generating an annual rental income of £12m.

The method is risky. Rising interest rates could wipe out rental income generating ongoing losses. And if prices fall, landlords could ending up in negative equity - owing more than the value of their properties.

Landlords who borrow continually against their existing buy-to-let properties are most at risk. But if - and when - a rate rise will occur is still unclear. Mark Carney, Bank of England Governor, said the Base Rate - 0.5pc since March 2009 - could "only go up" in spite of record-low inflation levels in the UK.

Would-be landlords can still err on the side of caution by build cash reserves, Mr Thomas advised. Or they could eliminate interest rate risk altogether by buying with cash.

He said: "Returns have been lower for cash buyers, because of abnormally low interest rates, but if you have a big pile of cash and don't want to take risks buy-to-let will produce a steady return."

Buy-to-let boom predicted for 2024

The report predicted buy-to-let borrowing would continue to outperform other investments. It said £1 invested in buy-to-let, with a 25pc deposit, will return £2.87 over the next decade. For cash buyers, the report predicted £1 invested in buy-to-let today will be worth £1.81 in 2024.

Mr Thomas said this is a "conservative estimate" which assumes mortgage rates will increase to 5.5pc by 2022, and that house prices will rise by 4pc.

He dismissed the "fear factor" of any possible crackdown on buy-to-let from a potential Labour government. Ed Miliband, Labour leader, would cap rents for existing tenants and impose three-year contracts on some tenancies.

"Controls on the rented sector simply means less supply, fewer new landlords, and will result in higher rents for new tenants," Mr Thomas said.

The biggest losers in this situation would be tenants, because there will be a lack of supply, he added. "Ironically, it will be landlords who benefit as they can push up rents."

Watch: Around the Dog World - Crufts and Pawscars 2015

No vet faux pas, tailgate or talk of poisoning, just all the positives from the world's greatest dog show.

The latest Aroud the Dog World is perhaps the most special of the year. The main feature for this month's programme is, of course, the world's biggest dog show where more than 20,000 dogs compete for the most prestigious prize in dogs, Best in Show at Crufts.

This episode first hits TV screens on Thursday Apr 2 at 8pm, on Horse Country TV (Sky 253), with several repeats throughout the month. But for those without Sky, keep your eye on the dogworld.tv and DOG WORLD website as it will be free to watch there too from Apr 3.

In the last two years an event has emerged the night before the big show kicks off, which brings together hundreds of canine enthusiasts to celebrate everything good in dogs. Honours which have been voted on by the public, are awarded to people deserving of recognition for their input and effort to the world of pedigree dogs, and all proceeds from the night go to very worth canine and children's charities.

The Pawscars have already become a vital part of the canine calendar and you can watch highlights of the night and see every award get handed out on this month's Around the Dog World.

When the programme moves across to the NEC halls for Crufts, there is plenty to fit in. Not only highlights of every group and Best in Show, but also a daily stop at one of the most exciting breed rings from across the weekend.

Also hear from the group and Best in Show winners and judges minutes after they have come out of the ring. Emotions run high, excitement is clear to see, and some are left struggling for words after such amazing wins.

Around the Dog World - Pawscars and Crufts 2015 is pressnted by Simon Baillie, and analysis of the judging in both breed and group rings is from Andrew Brace.

The next Around the Dog World was filmed last weekend at UK Toy and will take an in depth look at a handful of breeds, not just in the Toy group but also some British native breeds including the one you can watch taking Best in Show at Crufts on Thursday, the Scottish Terrier.

He paid more than £3million above the £12million asking price but since then it has become close to derelict and could be demolished after the local council gave permission nine months ago. 

Designed by Sir James Dunbar-Nasmith, who also created a development on the Balmoral estate, 'SouthYork' was given to Andrew after his marriage in 1986.

The Duchess of York lived on there with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie following the divorce in 1996, but moved out in 2006 and joined Andrew at his home Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

It was sold a year later but has become an expensive ruin and worse it is now being bombarded by noisy Jumbo jets coming in to land at Heathrow.

The new flight-path is part of a trial started by the National Air Traffic Services in August which will last five months. The experiment is also to be repeated next year.

An online petition set up by villagers in Ascot to stop the trial had today reached 5,500 signatures.

Neighbours told how the latest blight on the once grand mansion saw planes cruising over every two minutes, as low as 5,000 feet, with noise levels of 78 decibels being recorded.

'It's terrible - huge jumbo jets fly right over our rooftops and it's so, so noisy,' said one neighbour, who declined to be named.   

In December last near the current owner was granted planning permission tor replace the former royal home with a larger six bedroom house, with a further eight bedrooms for staff.

The new design, that was created by architects Hok, will include a family living room, drawing room, formal dining room, study and sitting rooms for children and the master suite.

A 25 metre indoor swimming pool to the south of the house to replace the current outdoor pool.

The planning permission granted by Bracknell Forest Borough Council expires in December 2016 if work has not begun on the new property.

Another resident, who described the noise from the planes as 'hellish' said of the plans for the Duke and Duchess's former home: 'We thought it might be happening this summer but obviously not. We've heard nothing since the planning application was submitted.

'It's going to be good if it goes because the history goes with it. With interest rates steadfastly refusing to rise, investors are searching elsewhere for investment opportunities. Aberdeen Market Cools As Scottish National Average Climbs

The latest Citylets report for the Scottish PRS to Q1 2015 confirms that the average rent in Scotland has continued to rise with strong gains in its 2 main cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. However segments of the Aberdeen market have begun to fall, led lower by the softening of the oil price and its knock on effect to the local economy.

Rents in Scotland on the whole rose by 7.4% over the year to March 31st to stand at an average high of £751 per month. National rents have risen 16.4% since 2008, around 2.5% per year approximately the same as long term inflation.

Properties of all size (1-4 beds) saw rent increases over the year with 4 beds rising the most at 9.7% reflecting the increased demand for family homes to rent across the country.

Edinburgh and Glasgow recorded similar annual growth of 7.7% and 8.1% respectively and Aberdeen also grew but at 2.2% representing a significant slowdown on annual inflation. Indeed the Aberdeen market no longer seems to be on a homogenous drive upwards with clear demarcation between small properties, which rose in value over the year, and large properties which fell.

Citylets founder, Thomas Ashdown, also expressed concern at the current trajectory of the Scottish PRS in its major cities upon the release of the latest report in light of recent affirmations on likely legislative change.

Ashdown, who founded Citylets back 1999, singled out the Scottish Government's apparent commitment to end 'no fault' grounds for repossession.

"We fully understand and support the intent to make renting in the PRS a better place. However, as I understand it, measures seem set to be introduced that could further limit supply at a time when there is a chronic shortage in major cities. The plan to have special measures to deal with rent rises in these areas seems like an overt case of addressing the symptoms whilst exacerbating the root cause.

There is no doubt that many small scale landlords will and indeed have already left the sector due to the increasing burden of legislation and spectre of decreased control over their asset. That being the case, the need to ensure favourable conditions for institutional investment is surely paramount yet it is presently uncertain as to whether this will be achieved near term.

Edinburgh (101)

The inexorable rise of the Edinburgh market continues, with average rents up 7.7% on last year to £913 per month. With 8 consecutive quarterly rises since q1 2013 the trajectory for the Scottish capital now indeed mirrors that seen in Aberdeen in recent years.

1-4 bed properties recorded rises of between 4.6 and 7.5% and TTLs fall with the average (mean) property now taking just 21 days to let. 1 bed properties are moving fastest at just 16 days on...

average and 83% are let within a month. Many agents report portfolio average- as measured by median- TTLs in single figures.

Glasgow (94)

Rents in Glasgow continue to edge up at a steeper rate than in previous years, now at an all time high of £679 per month, up 8.1% year on year. However TTLs are not falling across the board as per the capital but still moving well with the typical property taking 1 month to let, down only slightly on last year by 1 day. Popular 2 bed properties saw a significant 9.2% annual rise to £690 per month but again it was the 1 bed properties moving fastest with 69% let within a month.

Aberdeen (113)

There are signs that the Aberdeen market may finally be cooling off. Whilst rents are up 2.2% on the year at £1089 per month, this represents both a fall from Q4 2014 and a considerable slow down in annual inflation between recent quarters, down from 8% annual growth as at Q4 2014.

However falls are attributable to the larger 3 and 4 bed properties, down by 6% and 3.5% respectively, whilst 1 and 2 beds continue to record YOY rises. All property types took longer to rent than a year ago, by on average an extra 13 days, however the typical property still takes approximately just 1 month to let at well over £1000.

Dundee (94)

Dundee continues to buck the trend for major cities recording a 1.3% annual fall in average rents to £587 per month but with average TTL remaining almost unchanged on last year at 45 days. With interest rates stuck firmly in the gutter, people are searching elsewhere for opportunities to invest their savings. One particular opportunity is the buy-to-let market, you either get a mortgage on a property and then rent the property out, thus paying the mortgage. With property prices still rising, it's an opportunity that offers a degree of security whilst still returning decent returns on your investment. However, you need to be aware of potential problems. The Kennel Club Shun 8,000 Dog Lovers Refusing to Accept Petition for Better Cavalier Health

Frustrated by The Kennel Club's refusal to receive an 8,000 strong petition at Crufts this week, dog lovers have started a "virtual march". Owners who are caring for sick pets hope this will make the Club take on board their concerns about a health crisis in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

The 'Cavaliers Are Special Virtual Health March to the Kennel Club' is taking place on Facebook. Many of the virtual marchers have posted photographs of Cavaliers who have died at a young age from painful inherited disease.

Over 8,000 Cavalier lovers, including a host of celebrities, have signed a petition asking the Kennel Club to only register puppies whose parents have been tested for the breed's two most serious hereditary conditions.

Damon Scott spoke to K9 Magazine about why he and Craig Revel-Horwood, pictured above with their dog Sophie, are supporting the campaign back in December.

Speaking about the campaign, Ryan O'Meara, a former professional dog trainer and editor of K9 Magazine said, "When we breed dogs to a set of physical standards and ignore the health consequences, it's really unforgivable.The public must be educated to see dogs not for their aesthetic appeal but to think about their health."

The BBC ditched its coverage of Crufts after a 2008 TV documentary raised serious concerns about Cavalier health and breeding practices. Despite labelling itself "the UK's largest organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting the health and welfare of all dogs", the organisation has refused to accept the petition, claiming it is not "appropriate" for its "positive celebration of dogs".

"As someone who has lost one Cavalier from heart disease and is now caring for a two-year-old Cavalier with an extremely serious neurological condition, this feels like another kick in the teeth for pet owners," says mother-of-three Charlotte Mackaness, who started the online march. "As far as Cavaliers go, Crufts is a celebration of beauty at the expense of health."

According to Margaret Carter, who started the petition: "It is possible to produce healthier puppies by health testing and removing young, affected Cavaliers from the breeding programme but the KC's own registration figures reveal 50 per cent of the Cavalier breeders exhibiting at Crufts are not following the Cavalier heart protocol."

"This is discrimination against pet owners who have signed the petition and posted thousands of heart-breaking comments," says Carter. "Why is the Kennel Club so reluctant to accept the petition? I suspect because there is a conflict of interest between its claim to represent all dogs and the fact that acknowledging health problems will antagonise the breeders who provide its main source of income.

"Most Cavaliers are in pet homes and it is pet owners that are left to pick up the pieces. They care for the sick dogs and they are the people fighting for the survival of this loving breed - doing the job that the Kennel Club and breed clubs should to be doing," she says.

The campaign has also received support from the RSPCA alongside a host of celebrities including Pixie Lott, Craig Revel-Horwood and Damon Scott, Deborah Meadon, Linda Robson, Made in Chelsea's Binky Felstead, Tony Parsons, Fern Britton and TV vet Mark Evans.

Bob Sinclair has spent the past six years building a house to live in with his wife Sheryl but his local council says he has less than a week left to knock it down.

Mr Sinclair, 66, built part of the two-storey home in Elizabeth Park, north of Adelaide, with wood instead of the steel that the council had originally approved.

He tried and failed to get his changes approved and as a result the Environment, Resources and Development Court found in favour of Playford Council during a June hearing and ordered that the entire structure be demolished before next Tuesday.

'We're looking into whether or not we can appeal but it appears the cost of the appeal would be prohibitive,' Mr Sinclair told Daily Mail Australia.

'The best we can get is an extension on the demolition order.'

The block of land was originally purchased in 2006 by Mr Sinclair's daughter Vanessa Sinclair-Benke, but Mr Sinclair started building the house for him and his wife to live in.

'My daughter was looking for an investment property,' he said.

'We would have been paying the mortgage as the rent on the house.'

Mr Sinclair first lodged a development application in June 2006, and council approved a two-storey steel framed dwelling and garage in January 2007.

Work commenced in January 2008, and under the development approval work was required to be substantially completed by 11 January 2010, or else the approval would lapse.

Mr Sinclair said the price of steel went 'through the roof' after his first application and would have cost an extra $40,000 so he used timber instead, the Northern Messenger reported.

In July 2011 a neighbour complained to council about inadequately secured roof sheeting on the partially built house which was flapping in the wind and making noise.

The council's building surveyor investigated the complaint and found a number of defects in relation to the timber framing, gang nails leaving rafters and weather damage to the timber framing and flooring.

It was then that he also discovered the framing had been built with timber not steel. 

Mr Sinclair was told in a letter he must lodge another development application seeking approval in relation to the timber framing in order to continue construction.

On 26 April 2012, Mr Sinclair submitted a further development application and 'development plan consent' was granted on 5 November 2012.

Before he could recommence construction, Mr Sinclair also required 'building rules consent' for the same development.

No building rules consent had been obtained by November 2013, so an extension of time was granted.

Mr Sinclair submitted building rule consent from private building certifiers Katnich Dodd in April 2014, but the council did not issue approval, saying his submission did not match the previous development application.

On June 5 the council filed an application with the court for a demolition order, which was granted on June 27. 

Mr Sinclair told Daily Mail Australia his view was that the council had approved his development then 'changed its mind'.

'Eventually I got my building consent approval and the council withheld it and put on a demolition order,' he said.

Lech, once Princess Diana's favourite resort, is a magnet for the rich and famous, but you don't have to be either to grab a piece of the action at a new development in the über fashionable Austrian ski resort.

Wald am Arlberg Chalets were built by developer Reinhard Wolf, a native of Lech, who previously completed the Aurelio hotel for a Russian billionaire, where room prices are a dizzy £5,800 a night.

By contrast Wald am Arlberg Chalets is a collection of 56 ski chalets and apartments where prices now start at £144,600 for a studio, with two/three-bedroom apartments selling at £347,000.

About 50 per cent of the project is already sold or reserved. With interest rates stuck firmly in the gutter, people are looking elsewhere for investment opportunities. One popular opportunity is the buy-to-let market, you or if you have the funds available you buy a property and then get an income from the rent. It is easily close enough to Arlberg's extensive ski area for you to be on the slopes by 9am via the nearest lift at Stuben.

This is one of the last developments in the area to enjoy Second Home status.

With rare exceptions, all new chalets in Austrian resorts must be rented for part of the year, a rule designed to prevent villages becoming ghost resorts in the summer.

"There is no equivalent to this project in Lech or St Anton," says marketing manager Tom Joyce of agent Pure International.

"For the sake of a 15-minute drive, prices fall from £2,200 per square foot to £340 per square foot."

Austria has invested heavily in its ski resorts, a major part of its economy.

The Arlberg ski region extends to more than 200 miles of the most perfectly groomed pistes in Europe, designed to flatter even modest skiers.

Add to that the comfort of heated modern lifts that magically blend with the beautiful mountain landscape and it is easy to see why the area draws families back season after season.

The four main residential buildings at Wald am Arlberg enjoy a sunny, south-facing site on the mountain slope.

Facilities will include a reception area, restaurant and spa house in two new buildings.

Charges for services are estimated at £750 a year and the only catch is that if you have a car, you must buy an underground parking space costing £20,000.

The development is 45 minutes from Innsbruck airport, served by easyJet, and Pure International can arrange mortgages with a local bank based on a loan-tovalue of 60 per cent.

Pure is also marketing two projects in the heart of the tiny village of St Christoph am Arlberg, the winter base for the Austrian ski team.

This remarkable shot was taken by Martin Le-May while he was walking with his wife through Hornchurch Country Park in Havering, London. The pair heard "distressed squawking" before witnessing the woodpecker's "struggle for life" as the weasel clung to its back. The amateur photographer from Essex told ITV that he "feared the worst" for the bird, which appeared to be "unnaturally hopping about like it was treading on a hot surface" before it flew in their direction. Fortunately for the woodpecker the weasel fell off and it flapped its way to safety.

Britain's oldest working post windmill has gone on the market for £900,000, complete with a three-bedroom house for anyone hoping to make some real dough in property.  

Grade I-listed Outwood Mill dates back to a year before the Great Fire of London, and is set in the grounds of the house in the Surrey village of Outwood.

The 350-year-old mill stands 39ft high, with sails measuring 60ft across, and can still be operated by one person thanks to the remarkable craftsmanship that went into building it.

Mr Chenery added: 'It would make a fantastic venue for weddings and antique fairs, and it's definitely a good talking point.

'Keen bakers could even grind their own flour to make their own unique bread.'

PRE-DATING THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON, AND STILL GOING STRONG: A HISTORY OF OUTWOOD WINDMILL 

How it was: Outwood Mill, pictured in around 1903

Outwood Windmill, a post mill on a single storey roundhouse, was built in 1665 for miller Thomas Budgen, who lived in the nearby village of Nutfield.

He borrowed the money to buy the land and build the mill from his two brothers-in-law and as being a miller was such a lucrative trade, Budgen was able to pay back his financiers with interest in just two years.

The men who built the mill are said to have watched the Great Fire of London glowing in the distance, some 25 miles away. 

In 1678, Budgen he was fined £20, worth around £1,700 in today's money, after he was convicted under the Convecticle Act for 'Seditious Preaching'.

Budgen was an ancestor of another John Budgen, who set up the eponymous supermarket chain in 1872. 

He died, aged 75, in 1716, and the mill passed to his son John, and then to other family members, before it came into possession of the Jupp family by 1806. They ran it until 1962, when it was bought by brothers Gerald and Raymond Thomas.

In 1796, William Budgen was given permission to put up a second windmill, this one a smock mill, which was run by the Budgen family until 1885 when Edward Scot bought the lease for £1,225. In 1950, the preservation of the mill was proposed, but a survey later found it was suffering from rot and would cost too much to repair. The mill collapsed in the early hours of November 25, 1960.

By the 1930s the original mill was little used, and although it had been recognised by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings in 1929 as being of 'paramount importance', it had started to fall into ruin with plans to restore it delayed by the outbreak of the Second World War.

Extensive repairs were carried out in 1952, and in 1955 a grant of £750 from the Ministry of Works was provided the fund the fitting of a new pair of spring sales, on the condition that the public would be given access to the mill. 

On June 12, 1964, the mill was caught in a severe thunderstorm, and only saved when the new owners turned the mill so that the wind was side on to the building.

The mill has four spring sails controlled by elliptical springs, carried on a wooden windshaft with a cast iron poll end. It drives two pairs of millstones, and is winded by tailpole.
